COURSE SUMMARY:
This certificate program introduces sustainability and green technologies and demonstrates why energy innovations are critical for the future. Learners will be introduced to different types of clean energy technology such as: wind turbines, solar power, hydroelectricity, geothermal energy, tidal energy, and fuel cells. Learners will also discuss how advances in energy storage technologies are making these systems more economical and how advances in electric vehicles are going to increase demand for new energy sources. The implementation of clean energy technologies is also studied to understand how they can work either in conjunction with, or as a replacement for, conventional power sources.
Note: Graduates are eligible to take the Sustainable Energy Technologies Professional (SETP™) exam as part of the Foundation Technologies Institute’s credentialing process.
WHY THIS COURSE?
The demand for people with an interest or experience in the Sustainable Energy field is growing at a fast pace as communications improve and a demand for increased transparency and accountability in the corporate sector increases. In addition, recognition of the important positive role that the corporate sector can play in the communities it touches has encouraged companies themselves to become involved, spurred on by governments and the non-profits.
It should also be noted that the commitment to Sustainable Energy is a grass roots movement, and more and more organizations are embracing it. As reported by the Globe Newswire article on Oct. 11, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – According to the report published by Allied Market Research, the global renewable energy market garnered $881.7 billion in 2020, and is anticipated to reach $1,977.6 billion by 2030 — thus, the need to have qualified Sustainable Energy expertise.
Module one (Energy Fundamentals) introduces students to the theory and practice behind energy production, distribution, and consumption. Students will learn about the relationship between energy and the environment and leave with a strong grasp of the basic terminology and units of measurement used throughout the certificate program.
Module two (Solar Energy Development) introduces the technology behind solar power. It provides students with a foundational understanding of solar energy and walks them through the planning, design and development process required to install a solar project. Students will leave with an understanding of the mechanics behind solar power generation, economics of different solar power projects, technical aspects of its integration into power grids, and the future potential of this technology
Module three (Wind Energy Development) provides students with a foundational understanding of wind power technologies and walks them through the planning, design and development process required to install different wind projects. Students will leave with an understanding of the mechanics behind wind power generation, economics of different types of power projects, technical aspects of its integration into power grids, and the future potential of this technology
