WHY THIS COURSE?

The demand for people with an interest or experience in the CSR field is growing at a fast pace as communications improve and a demand for increased transparency and accountability in the corporate sector increases. In addition, recognition of the important positive role that the corporate sector can play in the communities it touches has encouraged companies themselves to become involved, spurred on by governments and the non-profits. It should also be noted that the commitment to CSR (and hence the supply of related jobs) is, at present, more developed in Europe than it is in Canada or the US, although the market is growing rapidly on this side of the Atlantic.

Now more than ever, there is a growing importance for companies to ramp up their focus on social responsibility. “Social responsibility,” in simple terms, means a business’ obligation to pursue achievable and good long-term goals for its people and the world at large.

Successful companies today use social responsibility to give back to society and thank customers for their loyalty. This can come in the form of projects, movements, or empowerment of individuals. Whatever form these corporate ventures take, they are a win for both the company and the community alike.

Organizations world-wide are looking for people that can lead them to utilize:

  • CSR to help them attract and retain employees
  • CSR to improve customers’ perception of their brand
  • CSR as a sign of accountability to investors
  • CSR to save money
  • CSR to enable them to better engage with customers
  • CSR for both commercial and social good
